USA Tour for the In-Laws
The National Zoo
One place I’d never visited before in DC is the National Zoo. I didn’t even realize that it was run by the Smithsonian Institution.
Getting to the National Zoo by metro does involve a bit of a walk. The drawback is that if you get distracted petting a dog (for some reason, most dogs in China seem to be afraid of people, so I’m very behind on my dog petting quota) at exactly the wrong point, you can end up walking an extra 5 or 10 blocks past the zoo entrance.
The zoo is one of the best I’ve seen, but it did leave me with some lingering questions. For example, what’s wrapped up in that paper bag? A sandwich, or is that panda bear having a liquid lunch? ![]()

Panda on Lunch Break
This van raised another interesting question.

Friends of the National Zoo
If the National Zoo has friends, does this imply that the National Zoo has enemies too? ![]()
There are plenty of places to eat in the zoo. I was a little disappointed to find that this place didn’t serve Panda Burgers. ![]()

Panda Burgers for Lunch?
Oh no! I’ve made one too many lame jokes at the zoo’s expense. The Lion King is not amused. ![]()

We Are NOT Amused!
I supposed I should end this now, before I’m thrown in with this guy.

My what big teeth you have!
Don’t annoy the Lion King too much and you’ll have a great day visiting at the National Zoo. Otherwise, the alligators will be very happy to meet you.
Don’t forget to spend lots and lots of money on souvenirs in the gift shops, just like I did. ![]()
