If you’re already anywhere in Arizona north of Phoenix, and you’ve got your in-laws wanting to see something special, famous, auspicious, then the Grand Canyon is a must-see attraction.

Originally, my parents were going to come along, but they weren’t feeling well (and they’ve seen it plenty of times) so we ended up going without them.
This was my second trip to the Grand Canyon. My lovely wife had been to Arizona once before, but we didn’t have enough time to see it on that trip.
The impressive thing about the Grand Canyon isn’t that it’s a canyon. There are lots of canyons in the world, and some are impressively large. The impressive thing is that it’s beyond merely large because it’s SO FREAKING HUGE!!! If you haven’t been there, it’s hard to describe just how big it is. No matter how many pictures you see, until you stand on the rim and look out across to the other side, it’s just not possible to fully understand the scale of the world’s largest drainage ditch.
